Best Vegan Eats In Sydney

Check out our recommendations for plant-based food in Sydney!

While it’s an end of an era for Bodhi in the park, that doesn’t mean the end of all the amazing plant-based eats you can get in Sydney. We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite venues that are worth checking out while you wait for Bodhi to reopen! From sandwiches to Mexican to Italian and everything in between, we have you covered.

Situated in the heart of Sydney’s Inner West by ex-Green Lion owner Bhavani, Sanga Vegan offers a range of freshly baked subs with delicious plant-based fillings. If a Reuben, meatball sub or a chicken parma screams your fancy (just to name a few), then Sanga has you covered. They also offer gluten free options, pies, salad bowls and even a mouth-watering range of plant-based desserts by the team at Fresh Frosted.

To top it off, they have a fully plant-based catering menu for all your event needs – whoever said office catering was boring clearly hasn’t checked out Sanga.

We wouldn’t be living in Australia, if we said no to a good pie. A tasty, flavourful filling enclosed in flaky, buttery pastry – you can’t go wrong! Lucky for us, you can get all that and more from Funky Pies in Bondi who serve up a selection of handmade vegan pies and pastries. With the addition of mash, gravy and peas on offer, it’s comfort food at it’s finest all while doing good for the planet.

To all you sushi lovers out there, make sure you add Comeco Foods to your list! Situated on King St in Newtown, these guys serve up vegan and gluten-free Japanese fare. Come for the sushi and stay for their famous sourdough doughnuts because the team at Comeco know what they’re doing. Inclusivity is at the heart of what they do with the menu free from gluten, egg and dairy to ensure all dietaries can be catered for.

It wouldn’t be a vegan restaurant guide without the Italian institution that is Gigi Pizzeria. It’s been voted time and time again as one of the best places for vegan pizza in Sydney so go see what all the fuss is about and check them out. With a crust woodfired to perfection topped with only the freshest ingredients, you’ll be dreaming of an Italian escape.

If a margarita in one hand and a taco in the other is your vibe, then get yourself to Vandal. Self-described as unauthentic Mexican, these guys pay homage to the Latino food truck scene in LA and we’re not mad about it. The menu delivers on both flavour and fun and is 100% plant-based and 100% delicious. Taco Tuesday at Vandal? It’s a big yes from us!

For your weekend brunch fix, head to Shift Eatery for tasty food and specialty coffee. From vegan toasties to bacon & egg bagels to smoothies, the team at Shift have you covered for all your brekky needs. If that wasn’t enough to get you through the door, they do an amazing range of vegan sweet treats that are hard to resist.

The best way to get your veggies in is with a meal at Little Turtle. They serve fully vegan, healthy alternatives to traditional Thai based cuisine and we’re here for it. Being vegan doesn’t mean missing out at Little Turtle, with all your favourite Thai dishes featuring on their menu, there is something for everyone.

For natural wines, house-made pastas and freshly baked bread, head to Bootleg Italian for the best vegan eats, beats and booze. It’s classic, it’s indulgent and you may walk out the door wanting to bath in their vodka rigatoni. Everything is made in-house, and you can taste the quality in every dish.
